A Masterclass with Georgia Train

Posted on February 18, 2021

On Wednesday 17th February, we opened up our virtual doors for a masterclass with one of our very own songwriting lecturers, Miss Georgia Train. The event was hosted by our Head of vocals, Amba Tremain. This masterclass focussed on a very important subject that definitely sparked an interest among the musicians of WaterBear. Georgia spoke about vital conversations that must be had before and after a song writing session: how and who should be credited on a song, double deduction, percentage of arrangements, royalties, fees... the list goes on!

The floor then opened up to WaterBear musicians who had a Q & A session with Georgia about their prior and current experiences with songwriting splits.

Following on from this was a really interesting section on Crowdfunding. Georgia shared her wisdom, experience, and tips for how to best start a crowdfunding page and spoke about websites such as Patreon, Kickstarter, and Pledge.

Overall, this masterclass was highly informative, interesting, relatable, and inspiring for all songwriters at WaterBear. Thank you, Georgia!

Georgia has worked with artists such as Ed Sheeran, Amanda Palmer, Kaiser Chiefs, and Matt Lucas. She is a longstanding music industry professional and founder of Hookers Songs, a publishing company and song writing collective in the UK.
