The BA (Hons) in Commercial Music is a high-level qualification that has a unique approach to developing careers in music. It is available as a 3-year on-site programme, or as a 2-year accelerated online Distance Learning option. The programme is built on three fundamental pillars – your music, your career and your projects.

Course Subjects & Modules

The programme covers many key subject areas including music performance, instrumental and vocal technique, songwriting and arranging, recording, mixing, mastering, social media, business studies, music history, tour management, live events and national touring.

The BA (Hons) programme incorporates a set of modules that cover a broad range of subject areas. These modules underpin the development of a well-rounded skill set associated with the requirements for a stable career in the music industry. Modules are grouped into four key strands – Musical Development, Popular Music Studies, Audio Production and Music Industry.

Fees & Finance

The tuition fee for UK/EU students is £9,250 for each year of the programme. This also applies to the 2-year Distance Learning course. If you are a UK resident, undergraduate tuition fee and maintenance loans are available for eligible students. You may also be able to access a tuition fee loan and help with living costs if you’re from an EU country and based in the UK.

How to Apply


Entry Requirements
A Levels (or combination with AS / EPQ / BTEC / Cambridge Technical / etc.) equal to to a minimum of 96 UCAS Tariff Points (BTEC / Cambridge Technical: MMM), or international equivalent.

International Students
The BA (Hons) 2-year online Distance Learning option is also open to students located outside of the UK and EU. International students must have a minimum level of English equivalent to IELTS 6.5 overall and for each component.
