The 3-yr full-time (Sept 2019)  or 2-yr online accelerated (Sept 2019 or Jan 2020) BA (Hons) Commercial Music programme is designed to develop and hone the essential skills required of today’s music industry professionals.  Students take a range of modules in different subject areas to provide broad foundational knowledge, whilst honing their own professional practice in key areas of interest as the course progresses.

Course Subjects & Modules

The programme covers many key subject areas including music performance, instrumental and vocal technique, songwriting and arranging, recording, mixing, mastering, social media, business studies, music history, tour management, live events and national touring.

The BA (Hons) programme incorporates a set of modules that cover a broad range of subject areas. These modules underpin the development of a well-rounded skill set associated with the requirements for a stable career in the music industry. Modules are grouped into four key strands – Musical Development, Popular Music Studies, Audio Production and Music Industry.

Further Study

Students graduating from this programme with a minimum of 2:2 (Hons) will be eligible to apply for Masters level courses at WaterBear or at other UK / International Universities.

Fees & Finance

The BA (Hons) Commercial Music tuition fee is £9,250 for each year of the programme. This also applies to the 2-year distance learning option. If you are a UK resident, undergraduate tuition fee and maintenance loans are available for eligible students. You may also be able to access a tuition fee loan and help with living costs if you’re from an EU country.

Submitting your application
Applications for the 2-yr Accelerated Online Sept 2019 or Jan 2020 intake can apply directly to WaterBear.

Applications for the 3-yr BA (Hons) Sept 2019 or Sept 2020 intake can be made through UCAS, the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service. You will need to quote the course and institution codes provided below when making your application. All applicants will also be invited to a one-to-one consultation, which is an essential part of the WaterBear application process.  The consultation can be done prior or subsequent to the UCAS application.
