Bruce Dickinson | Founder / Director & Guitar Tutor

Bruce has had 11 top forty hits and a number 1 album with Little Angels. He’s toured with Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Van Halen, and opened for Guns N’ Roses on their first UK shows. With his group Colour of Noise, he has run a successful Pledge album campaign and he continues to help new bands through curating the Rising Stage at the Ramblin’ Man Fair festival and Underground Music Conference events. Bruce was a founder of the BIMM group of colleges, leaving in 2012 for the Little Angels reunion at Download Festival and UK tour. He has negotiated several university partnerships and written many validated degree courses, with thousands of undergraduates studying those courses still. He holds an MA in Education Management.

Richard Brincklow | Electronic Music

Richard has been playing keyboards since an early age. He signed to the same management as Radiohead and Supergrass in the late 90’s leading to his band, Medal, signing a deal with Polydor and touring globally. From here Richard studied composition and started a career writing and recording music for documentaries and drama, alongside session keyboard work for acts like Passenger and Polak. Since then his music has featured on BBC radio 2, 3 and 6 and his music for picture on BBC 1, 2 and Channel 4. He presently plays with his band Bledig and also has a Neo Classical album due for release next year.

Adam Bushell | CEO & Drums Tutor

A professional drummer of over 25 years, Adam has played for many top-level bands and artists including Freakpower, Will Young, Braund Reynolds, Martha Reeves, Sam Brown, Celtus, Public Symphony, Phil Hilborne, Richie Kotzen, Jose Feliciano and Jason Derulo. For over 12 years he wrote a monthly teaching column in RHYTHM magazine and as a drum tutor, has guided the development of many hundreds of students, both privately and at various renowned music institutions. He has over 15 years’ experience in music education, most recently having held successive positions as Principal of two of the UK’s largest private music education colleges. He is degree qualified, holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning and in 2018, is due to complete an MA in Music Industry Innovation.

Rob Chapman | Guitar

Rob Chapman is a guitarist, singer and content creator from Brighton, UK. In both 2015 and 2016, Rob was named Total Guitar Magazine’s ‘Guitar Personality of the Year’ and featured in Forbes Magazine for being an entrepreneur who changed his life with YouTube. Rob is also founder and owner of Chapman Guitars, the UK’s fastest-growing guitar company, the frontman for chart-topping heavy rock band Dorje and is internationally renowned for creating entertaining and educational videos on YouTube for the past 10 years. As Director of Innovation in Guitar, it’s Rob’s job to ensure that Guitar education at WaterBear remains innovative, inspirational and founded in the principles of quality musicianship and excellence.

Rasha Shaheen | Music Industry

Senior Programme Manager MA

Rasha is an integrated performance scientist, songwriter, producer, educator and events curator. She brings her unique experience of positive psychology, creativity and performance to empower all to authentically find their creative voices. She is currently studying for a Masters in Performance Science at the Royal College of Music. She holds a Masters of Music in Songwriting as well as a PGCE and a BA (Hons) in Creative Music Technology. She has a musical project under the guise ‘∑nnth’ and is in the process of creating an album. When performing, Rasha creates sounds from post-punk, to no-wave psyche to art-pop. She has performed internationally since 1997.

Tom has released 3 critically acclaimed albums with the band Freeze the Atlantic on the influential independent label Alcopop Records!, having toured the UK and Ireland extensively in both headline and support capacities (including full band and acoustic shows with Marmozettes, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, Attack! Attack!, My Vitriol, Fighting With Wire, Hundred Reasons, Funeral For a Friend, Hell Is For Heroes and Succioperro). In both FTA and previous projects, Tom has recorded in studios such as Abbey Road and Sphere Studios, and worked with influential music Producers (Dave Eringa – Idlewild, The Manic Street Preachers) and more recently Peter Miles (We Are The Ocean, Lower Than Atlantis).

Jo Garland | Vocals

An internationally acclaimed vocalist, Jo Garland’s career has stretched over 25 years with some of the most iconic names on the international music scene. She first signed to the legendary George Michael’s music label AGEAN, where she recorded on a variety of his albums such as Older, Ladies & Gentleman, Patience and George Michael Unplugged. Jo joined Michael on tour and for throughout his career also appearing on two of his videos ‘Spinning the wheel’ and ‘Fastlove’. Her catalogue of artists reads like a ‘Who’s Who list’ of the music business, having recorded, toured and performed live with Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, Sting, Rita Ora, Seal, Sissor Sisters, Ronan Keating, Boyzone ,Tom Jones, Tom Odell, and Jools Holland, Garth Brooks, Shaggy, Olly Murs, James Blunt, Supergrass, Aqua, Boy George, All Saints and the list keeps growing. Dale Davis | Bass

Dale is one of the UK’s premier session bass players. Having worked across the globe, he has been at the top of his profession for decades. As a bassist, musical director and arranger, Dale has recorded and toured with hundreds of top-level artists including Amy Winehouse, Tina Turner, Paul Young, Emelie Sandé, Mark Ronson and Freak Power. In addition to his session work, Dale continues to work on his own projects and productions, and is always on the lookout for new and exciting musical opportunities. He is one of the most passionate and gifted musicians you are likely to meet, and in the words of Amy Winehouse, is “my favourite person to go anywhere with”.

Nick Williams | Songwriting

Nick Williams is a songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, sound engineer and live music promoter. He’s the lead singer and songwriter with electronic folk band Night House. Williams graduated from commercial music at Bath Spa University, specialising in Songwriting and Production. Releasing music under his own name and as Night House has led Williams to tour Europe regularly, with support slots for Ben Howard, Willy Mason, and The Magic Numbers. Recent Night House shows have seen them sell out St Nicholas’ and the Unitarian Churches Brighton. They’ve performed at prestigious venues from Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club to the Brighton Dome, with festival performances including The Great Escape, Isle of Wight, Celtic Connections and YNot.

Debbie Knox Hewson | Drums

Session drummer and clinician, Debbie Knox-Hewson, began her professional career in a whirlwind playing for popstar Charli XCX, with whom she toured the world extensively, appearing on various television/festival slots such as Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, Reading & Leeds, Saturday Night Live, The David Letterman Show, Radio 1 Live Lounge and the Official Olympic Opening Ceremony in London. In addition to her Charli XCX work, Debbie’s economical style has graced records and tours with bands such as James, Honeyblood, Clean Bandit, Rae Morris, Betsy, CuckooLander, Doe Paroa and her personal project, Nasty Cherry, where she is exploring her songwriting and production skills.

Greyum May | Electronic Music & Bass Tutor

As a bassist / multi-instrumentalist, Greyum has spent the past two decades as a touring musician, working with bands such as Keepers Brew, Ozric Tentacles, Firebird and The Black Hand. He is also regularly employed as a backline technician and stage manager, working with artists such as Carcass, Ghost, Megadeth and Lamb Of God. Greyum describes his musical tastes as leaning left of centre, with psychedelic and progressive electronic music being of particular interest. Also a self-confessed tone and gear junky, Greyum is perhaps at his happiest when knee deep in MIDI cables, FX units, synth modules and other various assorted audio junk!

Paul Sayer | Guitar

Paul Sayer is the guitar player and founder member of British rock and roll band ‘The Temperance Movement’, who to date have released three Top 12 albums, the latest of which charted at number 6 in the UK album charts. They have had number 1 radio hits in the US and Canada and toured with The Rolling Stones. Before forming The Temperance Movement he worked extensively as a session musician and musical director for artists as diverse as Ray Davies, Leona Lewis and Lily Allen, touring internationally playing to crowds of up to 80,000 people, appearing on major TV shows and recording guitar on Number 1 charting singles and albums. Paul personally managed The Temperance Movement in the 12 months preceding the release of the latest and most successful album ‘A Deeper Cut’.

Luke Potashnick | Guitar

Luke started his career as songwriter and guitarist for his band Rooster and later became one of the founding members of The Temperance Movement. With the latter Luke released 2 albums and toured the world supporting artists such as Blackberry Smoke and The Rolling Stones. He left the band in 2015 to focus on his own career as an independent songwriter and producer, where he’s since worked with a wide selection of artists including Gabrielle Aplin, Lisa Marie Presley and Kwabs. Luke is also a busy session guitarist, playing for the likes of Katie Melua, Marina and the Diamonds, Paloma Faith, The Wanted, James Blunt, Olly Murs and Gabrielle Aplin.

Pete Riley | Drums

Pete is widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading educators. As well as a renowned drummer he’s known for twenty year plus tenures as both a contributor and CD editor for Rhythm magazine. He has authored several successful drum books, written pieces for Trinity and was recently nominated in the ‘Best Educator’ category in Rhythm Magazine’s online reader’s poll. Over the last ten years Pete has become the CD editor for Rhythm magazine, overseeing the filming and editing of content and compiling the finished disc, accessed by thousands of drummer every month.

Jodie Amos | Administration

Jodie Amos is a drummer/vocalist. She graduated from her MA in Music Innovation and Enterprise in 2018 and since then has organised a number of UK and European Tours for the company ‘Made On The Road’. Jodie has performed at major UK Festivals such as Main Stage Bestival and The Isle of Wight Festival in various originals projects.

Dave Colquhoun | Guitar

Dave’s career as a guitarist has spanned 3 decades, in which time he’s worked with artists as diverse as Ian Brown, Bow Wow Wow and Ozzy Osbourne. Dave’s playing has garnered widespread recognition, having achieved the honour of being crowned Guitarist magazine’s Guitarist of the Year in 1995. Since then, his live and studio work has continued unabated. He’s a staple of Rick Wakeman’s band and regularly works many other artists such as KT Tunstall, Belinda Carlisle and Procol Harum. Most recently Dave has been closely involved with the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, working as a guitar tutor for the lead actor and being Brian May’s hands!

Brían McNamara | Songwriting

Originally hailing from the West of Ireland, Brían has performed at some of the UK & Ireland’s leading music festivals including Black Deer Festival, Beautiful Days Festival, Liverpool Feis, The Great Escape and Electric Picnic. An experienced live performer, he has played many leading venues across the UK & Ireland including: The Brighton Dome, The Belfast Empire, Whelans Dublin and Ronnie Scotts. With his band Warsaw Radio he has appeared on the same line-up as artists such as Van Morrison, The Lone Bellow, Frank Turner, The Levellers and The Waterboys. His songs have been featured & playlisted on BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Northern Ireland and RTE Radio in Ireland. He holds a BA (Hons) Degree and Masters from Technological University Dublin.

Bryan Chambers | Vocals

As a vocalist and performer Bryan Chambers has been storming the pop and club charts for the best part of a 20 years. Bryan’s first project was Hyper Go Go on the Positiva label, tracks included High, Never Let Go and Raise Your Hands which all went on to become top 30 chart hits and top 5 dance chart hits. Hyper Go Go also gave Bryan the chance to work with artists such as Barbara Tucker, The Pet Shop Boys, and Layo & Bushwacka. Following Hyper Go Go Bryan then became part of Umboza also with Positiva which scored him another top twenty chart hits with Sunshine and Cry India. Together with Bobby and Steve from the Zoo Experience Bryan then scored two top-five tracks in the DJ Hype and Dance charts; Got To Be Free and Higher Love. During this time Bryan had been touring clubs up and down the country with much success.

Amba Tremain | Vocals & Songwriting Tutor

Amba Tremain is a contemporary singer, songwriter, musician and vocal coach. She has worked with many high profile artists including Boy George, Newton Faulkner, Ella Henderson and Roachford. She’s also been awarded a gold disc by the BPI for her contribution to the album ‘Somewhere’ by the late Eva Cassidy. Amba and her band, ‘Blame Jones’ have nearly 300,000 monthly listeners across streaming platforms. She’s featured on over 90,000 worldwide playlists and is also a prolific session vocalist and keyboard player. Her other roles include Musical Director of award winning organisation ‘The Urban Vocal Group’ and Director of the ‘Breaking Through’ Artist Development Programme.

Melanie Howard | Bass

Melanie is the bassist for the indie-rock band ‘The Wedding Present’, which sees her touring frequently across the globe. Prior to playing bass for the band, she has also been the keyboard player and backing vocalist. She has also been a member of ‘Cinerama’  since 2014. The Wedding Present will be touring in Europe and Asia in 2019 and are currently planning tours of North America and Australasia.

Megan Sayer | Administration & Vocals Tutor

Megan graduated from BIMM in Brighton with a BA (Hons) in Professional Musicianship (vocals). An active musician, Megan was Band Leader and lead vocalist for with Dynamite Groove on board P&O Cruises. In 2012, she performed at the London 2012 Olympics singing for Coca Cola, and has performed at The London Palladium in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang alongside Jason Donovan and Wayne Sleep. Megan has led the vocal development of many students, both privately and at various establishments. Megan has also been musical director of both the children’s choir for the Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat Tour (Hastings, Crawley), and Britain’s Got Talent Winners Collabro on their UK Tour. As a singer songwriter, she writes for her originals project ‘Franklin’ and works as a session vocalist for various artists and projects.

Brett Lomas | Music Industry

Brett has worked as a tour manager for 15 years, accompanying bands to the four corners of the globe. A musician first and foremost, it was through performing that he fell into roles as merchandiser and backline tech and then on to tour management, working with numerous and diverse artists such as Buzzcocks, Kate Nash, Ash, New Young Pony Club, Scouting for Girls and Augustines. As the tours got bigger he ended up tour managing full time, realising he had found the job he was born to do. In Brett’s own words – “It’s like being in the eye of the storm, you need to be able to think and act calmly under pressure and make the right calls. The relationships you build with the band and the crew are essential especially as you are going to be thrown together in the tour bubble.”

Vlad Matveikov | Music Industry

MA Music Industry, Innovation & Enterprise tutor.

In 2014 Vlad set up Small Pond, a hub for Brighton’s music scene. It has quickly grown to employ nine full time young driven individuals who look after a set of rehearsal spaces, a recording studio and an increasingly popular record label. Previous to this, he played in touring bands for most of his life, and worked in a dozen different positions within the music industry ranging from event production, marketing, booking and audio engineering. Vlad also holds a B.A (Hons) in Audio Production & Sound Engineering as well as an M.A. in Management in the Creative Economy. He brings a holistic approach to understanding the current state of the music industry.

Abi D’Arcy | Songwriting & Vocals Tutor

Abi is a singer, songwriter, and performer who is currently involved in various original projects
across a wide variety of genres including folk-acoustic, African-hip hop, electronic swing/gypsy
jazz, and pop. As a live performer, Abi has supported artists such as Paolo Nutini, Newton Faulkner, Nick Mulvey, Little Boots, Mungo Jerry, Congo Natty, Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer, and more. She performed alongside Russell Watson for Prince Charles at Windsor Castle and has taken part in live sessions at Maida Vale Studios.

Aidan Hampson | Bass

Aidan has played around the world, performing in rock bands, jazz bands, classical orchestras and pretty much everything in­between. He has taught bass guitar for over twenty years, specialising in theory and technique and has had his transcriptions featured in many magazines worldwide. Aidan also has an extensive line of bass songbooks published, receiving plaudits from many of the greatest bass players including Nathan East and Leland Sklar.

Lisa McKeown | Music Industry

After beginning her career in the IT sector, in 2011 Lisa co-founded an artist management company, signing and developing a number of emerging artists. By 2013 she had added a music publishing company to her list of music industry start-ups, along with a growing list of successes in the artist management arena. In 2016, owing to brand strength and opportunities for growth, Lisa began talks with an overseas corporate seeking to buy shares in one of her companies. That same year saw her taking her music industry and management experience to the next level, joining forces once again with her long-term business partner, Andrew Michael, in his latest venture, Ninelives Capital.

Laurance Bridge | Bass

An experienced bassist who has worked with artists such as Warsaw Radio, Mark Flannery, Tom Odell and Les Oeufs. Laurance has extensive live performance experience having played legendary venues such as the Concorde 2, The Borderline, The Camden Barfly, Ronnie Scotts, Whelans Dublin and The Brighton Dome. He has also performed at The Great Escape Festival, Beautiful Days Festival and Black Deer Festival. He has appeared on festival line-ups along-side artists such as The Libertines, The Levellers and Frank Turner. His work has featured on BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing and RTE Radio in Ireland. A performer, producer and a highly experienced tutor who holds a BA (Hons) in Professional Musicianship and a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching & Learning from the University of Sussex.

Sam Bell | Guitar

Sam Bell first picked up a guitar aged just 5, after watching The Buddy Holly Story at the West End. At the age of 18, he was featured in Guitar Player Magazine’s up-and-coming section. Sam works mainly as a session guitarist, playing for soul singer and X-Factor vocal coach Lloyd Wade, and other various dance production shows around the UK. He is a contributor to Guitar Interactive Magazine, Premier Guitar Magazine and Lick Library. Sam has presented tutorials for Lick Library including DVDs like ‘Learn to Play Paul Gilbert’, ‘7 String Secrets’ and ‘Paganini’s 16th Caprice’. Sam has also delivered masterclasses at various colleges. He is also the songwriter for UK Tech Metal band Mask of Judas, with whom he writes his own melodic instrumental material. Sam is also currently working on a full debut solo album.

Terri Chapman | Music Industry

Terri started her career in the music industry in 2009. Based in Ibiza, she began her career working with Chic Festivals, now the biggest boutique events company in Europe. As an event organiser with many years experience, she has put on rock events and festivals for thousands of fans. Working with the Chic/HRH brand, she has built the independent record label, Off Yer Rocka Recordings. Terri is now the owner of Rock People Management. RPM has a fantastic, thriving roster of artists both signed and un-signed. They also continue to put on many sold out events and tours, with the company continuing to grow.

Mikey Sorbello | Drums

Mikey is an Australian-born drummer who moved to London in order to push his abilities and make a name for himself. Having founded the Graveltones in 2011, the band has since released two critically acclaimed albums, with the 3rd currently in production. Since then, Mikey has become a highly influential drummer amongst new and well-seasoned players alike. Steve White, a huge name in the UK drumming community, recently cited him as his favourite new drummer. Mikey’s strength lies in his ability to connect with people and instill in them the perseverance to pursue and challenge their talents, to a point of excellence and a unique place of creativity.

Ben Thackeray | Audio Production

Ben’s career as a recording engineer has seen him progress through the ranks at the famed Mayfair studios in London, where he worked with artists such as Radiohead, Supergrass and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and producers of the calibre of Nigel Godrich, Ben Hiller, Tom Elmhirst and Jim Abbiss. Now freelance and working out of Brighton’s exquisite Retreat Studios complex, Ben continues his engineering work alongside designing, recording and building products for drum sample company Drumdrops. He is also about to pioneer the release of his own music for Howie B’s seminal Pussyfoot Records label, under the name MX-774.

Jag Jago | Audio Production

An experienced guitarist and Producer, Jag has worked with some leading artists including: The Maccabees, Mastodon, Max Raptor, Ten Tonnes, The Magic Gang, Matt Maltese, Jessie Ware, John Coffey and Cave Painting. He is a recipient of the MPG Award UK song of the year for ‘Pelican’, an Ivor Novello Best contemporary song for ‘Pelican’, UK No. 1 Album ‘Marks to prove it’ and nominated for the Mercury prize in 2012 for ‘Given to the wild’.

George Donoghue | Audio Production

George is a freelance record producer, mix engineer, songwriter and musician based in Brighton specialising in Alt-Rock / Pop and Metal. His works have reached No. 1 in the independent charts, played on Radio 1, KROQ, Amazing radio and BBC Introducing. In the last 6 months George has contributed to over 1,020,000 streams and downloads world wide. As a musician George has toured Europe extensively with bands ReVerbed and River Becomes Ocean. During this time he founded Favor The Brave records. George has run two successful crowd funding campaigns and self-released three albums over the years. George is the Production Manager for the Rising Stage at Ramblin’ Man Fair and has worked as part of the production crew for Isle of White Festival and Reading Festival.

Samuel Organ | Electronic Music & Audio Production Tutor

Samuel Organ is a multidisciplinary musician and producer. He’s a founding member of The Physics House Band, playing Guitar and Synthesizers, who have gained high critical acclaim from The Guardian, The Independent, NPR and the BBC, as well as extensive touring and performing notable shows with Alt-J, Django Django, Omar-Rodriguez Lopez + more. As a solo producer / session musician he’s currently working with Slugabed (Ninja Tune) and Mr.Jukes (Island) on drums, and Jetta (Sony) on keys/Ableton and has written soundtracks for WIRED Magazine, Footlocker + more. He’s also a founding member of Small Pond, a Brighton based creative music company who offer rehearsal and recording services, as well as running a record label, events promotion company and Youtube channel. Samuel was voted the 5th Best New Guitarist in a 2017 poll in Total Guitar.

Ben Ash | Guitar

Ben Ash was the live touring guitarist with pioneering grindcore/death metal band Carcass, with whom he toured worldwide for 5 years. Ben was personally asked to join Carcass in 2012 by Napalm Death ’92s guitarist Bill Steer, who came across his tribute to him on YouTube. By request from Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, Carcass performed at his debut (now annual) FearFest in San Francisco (USA) in February 2014. Ben has also toured with Slayer and Testament and headlined the Deathcrusher 2015 Tour with Napalm Death, Obituary and Voivod, through UK and Europe. This involved playing gigs in Paris just after the terrorist attacks of 2015. In 2018, Ben announced that he had decided to depart from the touring circuit and return his focus to an educational role; also to pursue his own studies and work on individual music projects. As a testament to Ben’s teaching skill, it’s worth noting that his student Tom Marshall played the Montreux Jazz Festival alongside B.B. King and Jeff Beck in 2010.

Arya Goggin | Drums

Arya has been the drummer for UK rock band Skindred since 2002. Skindred have recorded and released 6 albums across 10 labels including Sony BMG, Atlantic, Lava, Warner Bros and Cooking Vinyl and have toured the world playing alongside Korn, Disturbed, Sex Pistols, Coldplay and Velvet Revolver. The band have and continue to play the world’s most renowned established festivals including Download, Sonisphere, Vans Warped Tour, Ozzfest, Rock AM, headlining Woodstock Poland to 750,000 people. Arya also has extensive experience in tour management and has many professional relationships with booking agents, press agents, national and local promoters, tour managers, touring accountants, record labels, artist management, media, national and international artists and touring personnel.

Kieran Daniel | Bass

Kieran has been professional musician for nearly 20 years with extensive touring experience in the UK & Europe. He has been involved predominantly in the UK Funk and Hip Hop scenes working with Acid Jazz records(Giles Peterson), Poets of Rhythm (Ninja Tune), RedBull (International B-Boy competition) and Sir John Dankworth (CBE) as well as attracting some of countries top session players; DJ Jazz T (Jhest), Craig Blundell (Roland) to perform in his original projects. Kieran has over 15 years’ experience as an educator.
